This volume pack serves mid-to-large shared-device deployments — manufacturing floors, healthcare facilities, Full chains, and any environment where multiple users rotate through shared terminals.
Device CALs offer simplicity for shared environments. Assign one CAL to a workstation, terminal, kiosk, or point-of-sale system, and every user who accesses SQL Server from that device is covered.
SQL Server 2019 Standard delivers the most intelligent database engine Microsoft has ever released. Intelligent Query Processing automatically optimizes execution: batch mode on rowstore eliminates the need for columnstore indexes on analytical queries, table variable deferred compilation fixes the table variable cardinality problem, and scalar UDF inlining eliminates the row-by-row execution penalty.
