Secured-core server technology provides hardware-rooted security with firmware protection via Dynamic Root of Trust for Measurement (DRTM), virtualization-based security (VBS) that isolates critical processes from the operating system, and hardware-enforced code integrity that prevents unsigned drivers and code from executing. These protections defend against the most sophisticated firmware-level attacks that traditional antimalware cannot detect.
TLS 1.3 is enabled by default with HTTP/3 support, encrypting all network communications with the latest cryptographic standards. SMB over QUIC enables secure file server access over the internet without a VPN — remote workers can access shared folders directly with certificate-based encryption, eliminating the complexity of VPN configuration for file access scenarios.
Azure hybrid integration reaches its most refined state in Server 2022 Essentials. Azure Arc enables centralized management of the on-premises server from the Azure portal alongside cloud resources.
